One great if you think meditation is an activity that a waste of time and useless. A recent study published the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine indicated that regular meditation can improve health care quality by reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, especially among adolescents most at risk.
Studies involving tens of black teenagers who have high blood pressure proves that meditation significantly help improve health conditions. Those who meditate twice a day for 15 minutes is likely to have left ventricular mass (LV mass) was lower. In the medical world, an increase in LV mass is known as one indicator of cardiovascular disease in the future.
Half of the adolescents were trained in transcendental meditation and asked to meditate for 15 minutes in the classroom and 15 minutes at home for a period of four months. While other participants were given health education issues on how to lower blood pressure (hypertension) and risk of cardiovascular disease, but not with the practice of meditation.
LV mass was measured by means of two-dimensional echocardiogram before and after the study. Group of teenagers who meditated showed a significant reduction in LV mass.
"The increase in mass of the left ventricle of the heart muscle usually caused by the extra workload on the heart with high blood pressure. Some teenagers already have a higher left ventricular mass due to increased blood pressure. This condition will continue to carry into adulthood," said Dr. Vernon Barnes of the Medical College of Georgia and the Georgia Health Sciences University Institute of Public and Preventive Health.
During meditation, the participants over the rest, the sympathetic nervous system activity is reduced, and the body releases stress hormones less than usual. "As a result, blood vessels relax, reducing blood pressure, and heart work less," he said.
In fact, says Barnes, school records show improved behavior among adolescents who meditate. "Transcendental meditation is much deeper than the rest of the body to sleep," he said.
"Statistics show that one out of every 10 black teenagers have high blood pressure. If practiced from time to time, meditation can reduce the risk of these adolescents with heart disease, as well as other additional health benefits," he said.

Why Fat People is Easy Snoring
Snore while sleeping can be experienced by anyone. But most people are overweight are more prone to snoring or snoring during sleep. Why is that?
There are many causes of snoring during sleep, due to a trivial problem but can sometimes also be an indication of serious health problems. Is estimated that nearly half of adults snore.
Snoring or the snoring is caused by a narrowing of the throat and the air will go through or over, as quoted from Mayoclinic, Saturday (16/06/2012).
One of the most common cause of snoring is the result of obesity and overweight. In obese people the excessive tissue can constrict the throat making snoring more likely.
Additionally obese people tend to have too much body fat, and some fat is collected in certain body parts like the neck and throat area.
Fat in the neck and throat will constrict the airways making it difficult to breath. When someone is lying, his position will further narrow the airways, making snoring so part of the body for trying to pick up oxygen.
And increased fat also affect good muscle tissue and lose muscle mass and loose tissue in the throat becomes so much easier to snore.
If purely due to obesity usually by losing weight can often fix the problem. But if obesity is combined with other causes, it would require further treatment.
Sometimes people who snore may also suffer from sleep apnea refers to a disruption of breathing for 10 seconds or more. Sleep apnea can occur several times in one night and interfere with normal sleep quality.
Some things could be a clue that experienced snoring more than just a sleep disorder that is common to feel sleepy during the day, frequent urination when the night or early morning headache.

Breastfeeding Can Rich Omega-3 If Mom Eat Fish
Currently in its infancy, nutrition is very important for infant development. Essential nutrients such as omega-3 is known to help brain development of infants. Omega-3 are found mainly in fish. One study found that mothers who eat fish have a lot of milk with omega-3 content is high.
Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and an anthropologist at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) found that women in American Indian tribes have the milk that is rich in omega-3. Though Indians are economically poorer than other people in the United States.
The study, published the journal Maternal and Child Nutrition compared the fatty acid composition of breast milk of women in the United States and Indian tribes are named Tsimane. Tsimane tribe living in the Amazon jungle in Bolivia and consuming local food, meat of wild animals and freshwater fish.
The result, tribal women breast milk samples contained more Tsimane omega 3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which is very important for cognitive and visual development of infants.
In addition, levels of DHA in breast milk did not decline after 2 years of birth. This period is the period in which the most optimal baby brain growth and absorb the DHA.
"The composition of fatty acids in breast milk varies according to the fatty acid composition of food and maternal fat stores," said researcher, Melanie Martin, a doctoral student in the department of UCSB antropolgi as reported by Science Daily, Tuesday (12/06/2012).
Comparison of omega-6 to omega-3 in women in the U.S. varies from 10: 1 to 20: 1, whereas the mothers in the Tsimane only 4: 1. This is presumably because the U.S. does not have fresh fish and the women who consume lots of processed foods rich in omega-6 and trans fats.
Levels of high omega-6 known to be associated with an increased risk of obesity, inflammation, cardiovascular disease and interfere with the processing of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids.
"On average, breast milk contains DHA in Tsimane 400 percent higher than the mother in Cincinnati. However, the average percentage of omega-6 and fat transnya 84 percent and 260 percent lower. While living in poor economic condition, the mothers in Tsimane produce milk with a composition more balanced and nutritious, "says Martin.
These findings highlight the importance of increasing fatty acid content in breast milk of mothers in the U.S.. Composition of fatty acids in infant formula should mimic breast milk composition in the Tsimane. Researchers also suggested that the baby is getting the intake of omega-3 fatty acids from milk which is naturally derived.

Eye Sore Risk Due to Acne Drug
Recent research scientists at Tel Aviv Israel said, the use of acne medication in pill form (oral) triggering risk of eye infections such as conjunctivitis (pink eye). The findings are based on the number of teenagers who suffer from acne, which then use the acne medication such as Accutane or Roaccutane.
Dr. Gabriel Chodick of Tel Aviv University's School of Public Health, Sackler Faculty of Medicine, said the experts actually have long known the connection between acne and the risk of eye infections. But unfortunately, there is little research that examines the relationship between the two.
"Acne itself can increase the risk of eye disease. There is a greater tendency to inflammation, and sometimes this causes irritation," he explained.
The findings concluded that patients using oral medication twice the risk of eye infection, compared with those not taking oral medication to cope with acne.
In his study, Chodick and the team observed nearly 15,000 adolescents who participated in the Maccabi Health Care participating Service. Researchers then divided into three groups, namely, acne free group, a group that has acne but do not take oral medication, and who have acne plus group were prescribed drugs such as Accutane or Roaccutane.
Of the 15,000 participants, 1791 of whom had inflammatory (inflammation) of the eye. In the group given drugs such as Accutane acne, 991 of whom had sore eyes. The most common infection is conjunctivitis, commonly called red eye.
"A very common side effects of using Accutane and Roaccutane is the dryness of the skin and lips. It is naturally also affects the lubrication of the eyelid - particularly oil glands along the eyelid," says Dr. Chodick.
Tears are very important because they lubricate the eye surface, and they clean up the debris, including bacteria and viruses that can infect the eye. Infection of the gland itself can lead to sties, and a more serious bacterial infection can lead to swelling of the eyelid as a whole.
Although not a serious medical condition, treating acne is still viable, said Chodick. But the dermatologist and the patient should be aware of side effects to the medication, because there is potential for long-term damage.
According to several studies, including those published in Clinical and Experimental Optometry, say, eye irritation and rubbing the eyes can cause structural problems such as keratoconus, corneal degeneration.
Dr Chodick appealed to every patient who treat their acne with oral medications to ask medical personnel about how to minimize eye irritation. One simple step is to use eye drops to lubricate the eye.
The findings are published in the Archives of Dermatology.

Although Suction Fat, Not Of Stomach Fat Free
Today many people who do liposuction to get a flat stomach. But after liposuction distended stomach may not be free forever, as it needs exercise to keep a flat stomach.
A study conducted by researchers at Brazil says liposuction or liposuction can cause increased fat around the organs in the abdomen. But with the continued exercise of this effect can be eliminated.
In the study of women who had liposuction on her stomach but did not regularly exercise after surgery have increased visceral fat (fat stored around the abdominal organs) about 6 months after surgery.
In contrast to women who regularly exercise 2 months after surgery did not experience an increase in abdominal fat. This shows suck the fat under the skin (subcutaneous fat) causes the body to compensate for this by increasing the amount of fat in other places.
"Patients should be informed of the possibility of increased visceral fat as compensation and the risks associated with liposuction procedures," said the researchers in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
In addition researchers from the University of Sao Paulo said health experts are also encouraged to recommend exercise or sport as an intervention after liposuction surgery.
The study involved 36 female participants who had normal weight and perform liposuction on her stomach. Then there is the randomized participants were asked to do exercise after surgery, but some are not.
Participants who did not exercise experienced a 10 percent increase visceral fat compared with a group exercise. It is unclear why liposuction leads to increased fat in other body parts, but may be due to decreased energy expenditure after surgery.
